Langley also opened up to Billboard about her tough journey to the top. Although the path wasn’t easy, she made it clear that the struggle helped shape her as an artist.
“There were times I was the only woman in that scene,” she explained. At the same time, she was living with two other artists who were landing more gigs. Nevertheless, she believed in herself. “I kept thinking, ‘I play just as well as they do. My band is just as strong. Just give me a chance.’”
Because of that struggle, she had to send extra emails to get noticed. Although it felt discouraging at times, she refused to back down. Instead, she kept pushing. Eventually, her persistence paid off. Once she finally got her foot in the door, venues began to invite her back. As a result, she learned to work even harder and consistently prove herself. Moreover, she gained confidence along the way.
Fortunately, Langley had grown up around strong women. Thanks to their example, she never saw herself as anything less than equal. In fact, she viewed herself as fully capable and deserving. For that reason, she stayed focused, even when the odds were against her. Furthermore, she continued to trust her instincts throughout her journey.
Today, she’s running her career her own way—and it’s clearly working. Because she stayed true to her vision, she’s built a path that’s entirely her own. Along the way, she’s inspired others to do the same.
“Where’s the damn rulebook that people keep telling me about? I have yet to see it,” she added. With that bold attitude, Langley continues to break the mold and blaze her own trail. Ultimately, her confidence and determination have set her apart in the country music scene. Moving forward, she plans to keep doing things her way—no rulebook required.
